Jillian Johnson is a violinist whose performances have taken her throughout the United States and Europe. She has played at renowned performance spaces such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, DiMenna Center, Symphony Space, and the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Career highlights include performing with the Grammy Award-winning sextet Eighth Blackbird as well as at the New York Philharmonic’s Biennial. Her new music credits include concerts with CLUTCH, Austin New Music Co-Op, Less Than 10 Music, and Density512, and orchestras with which she has performed include the Victoria Symphony, Canton Symphony, American Pops Orchestra, and the Turkish American Orchestra. Jillian’s recording work includes projects produced at the Clive Davis Institute, Reservoir Studios, Boulevard Carroll Studios, and Dolan Recording Studio.

A graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, Jillian received a full scholarship to complete her B.M. in Violin Performance from the University of Texas at Austin with Brian Lewis and the Miró Quartet. She earned her M.M. and A.D. at New York University, where she studied with Laurie Hamilton and Giora Schmidt. Jillian has appeared as a guest soloist with the Las Vegas Young Artists Academy Orchestra and the Nevada School of the Arts Chamber Orchestra, and she has participated in masterclasses with Rachel Barton Pine, Phillipe Quint, Peter Herresthal, Oleh Krysa, and Philip Setzer, among others. Over the summers, Jillian has participated in the Trentino Music Festival, the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, the Ascent Chamber Music Festival, the Orford Music Academy, and Center Stage Strings.

Jillian currently teaches in the NYC area at City Strings & Piano and the 92NY School of Music. A passionate educator, her teaching experience includes serving as a graduate adjunct faculty member at NYU, the UT String Project, the Las Vegas Young Artists Orchestra, and the Foundation to Assist Young Musicians. She has completed Suzuki teacher training and certification in Books 1-3 with Ann Montzka-Smelser, Dr. Laurie Scott, and Edmund Sprunger. Other primary teachers include Shakeh Ghoukasian, Ara Sarkissian, and James Buswell.
